Some help and info on estate planning for the parents of Boomers:

I guess you could call it ‘reverse parenting’ as the Boomers start taking care of their parents. The parent becomes the child, the child becomes the parent. Here is some info about estate planning and a new book, “Boomer Burden: Dealing With Your Parents’ Lifetime Accumulation of Stuff”

This has got to be where the jobs & money are going in the future….

If you think about what kinds of jobs will be on the rise in the future, such as technology, waste management, energy, etc., think about services for seniors and senior centers, which has got to be a HUGE source for careers! Here’s a good related article:

Here’s a new one to me…Life Coaches for Boomers?

I don’t know whether I want to get one….or be one. I did a bit of searching on the Internet and I guess this has been around, but it’s the first time I have heard about it. I have had corporate coaching sessions and I may have thought of celebrities having assistants or personal coaches, but I have never thought about this for myself. Sounds interesting though. You never know what idea is around the corner, but see if you need a Live Coach.

Semi-Retirement: Choice of Most Baby Boomers, New Book Says

This is what I am currently doing after losing my job due to outsourcing. I am looking to focus on not one, but a few different paths to not only provide retirement income, but to allow myself to actually like what I do, even into retirement years.

Are companies really preparing for Boomer retirement crunch?

I worked for a major corporation of which much of the work force is composed of Baby Boomers. There has been a lot written about that as this work force retires, will the companies find that they did not prepare for the turnover? I believe and have said for a couple of years now that although they are aware, they are not really planning enough. As with all things, I do not think issues that can have a future affect are ever thought about nearly enough, until crisis is upon them. There is a vast amount of experience and wisdom in the Boomers who have held the reigns for a couple of decades now and although much of the processes and technologies are changing, which will be no problem for the next generations to handle, the mistakes that the Boomer generation learned from could be passed on in prepartion , if the turnover and consulting from the Baby Boomers is utilized. I have not seen anything to make me feel that this turnover will be fully appreciated until it is necessary to scramble and address in the last moments…as usual!

Listen to this carefully and hear the truth in this man!

I try to keep political views out of my blogs to an extent because of the terrible things being said among all of us…meaningless arguments about anything but the REAL issues that we all face… not just Baby Boomers, but ALL of us. This is a HUGELY IMPORTANT election and while the issues that are so important and critical to all of us are going on, day by day and become increasingly worse, we have to decide and VOTE, especially this time more than any other. There is a loud voice of a minority of people in our country who would love for us to stay home on election day and not vote for the CHANGE that we need in these critical times. There are those who will speak of bending the truth about taxes and healthcare. These people get a loud voice in the media because they are making the most noise which attracts the media’s attention, but WE, the majority of people who are living every day through the consequences of these tuff times, can make the LOUDEST noise ever heard on election day! We should not and can not allow small groups of people led by greed and personal fears pave the way of OUR lives! We can and MUST decide for ourselves how this country will progress in the next years and who has the TRUE ability and passion to inspire us and lead us. That person is Barack Obama, who will be helped by Joe Biden. Don’t listen to those who would have you follow them in thinking that the Vice Presidential candidate is not as important to think about. WE, the majority of the quiet and silently waiting for election day, know who is more capable!

This is a perfect example of Barack Obama’s ability and passion to help us ALL and his ability to put a plan of real action into effect, not just general statements of “we will change Washington”. Statements can’t just be made to be real. Actions speak to the truth and Barack Obama has been speaking to these changes for the last two years.

Take 2 minutes and listen to this video and you will see who is really thinking about US and not just winning!

Boomers vs. Gen X

I love Lewis Black! How he manages to keep his act clean enough for even the Comedy Channel, I’ll never know, but on his show, “Lewis Black’s Root of All Evil” his latest contest is between the Baby Boomers and Generation X. Here is a link with a video from the show:

Hey… I like the name Zoomers!!!

Editor-in-chief of Zoomer Magazine - Suzanne Boyd

I think we “Baby Boomers” need a new marketing scheme. I love the term Zoomers… sounds more up to date and may confuse some of the younger generations who are tired of reading about Booomers already…. Boy, do they have some dues to pay yet or what? (LOL)
