After all….he IS the BOSS!

When asked who picks the songs he is going to play for the Superbowl halftime, the Boss replied….”The BOSS picks the songs…” (The media can come up with the really tuff questions:-) Bruce Springsteen seems to be better than ever and he is on a roll of obvious proof displayed as he performs at President Obama’s history making inauguration and then follows up with a performance at the single most watched  television sports event of the year…. the Superbowl. I’ll be watching!

I have just turned 57 this month of Janurary, 2009, so I’ve passed this milestone already. The way I have always looked at birthdays is that it is MY DAY of the year! I usually start reminding everyone the week after Christmas. It’s the one day of the year when I am the center of attention…how much better does it get than that? Also, I look at age in decades. Every time you hit the first year of a new decade, you are young again! If you’re turning 50, you are going to be a young 50 year old. When you were 49, you were at the end of the 40’s age. We all know that age is really relative and how we feel is up to us, as far as how we think, at least. There is no getting away from the fact that physically, our bodies are not young any longer and all we can do there is try to live a healthy lifestyle. In our minds, we can be as young as we want. Sometimes that is not a good thing!

Although this article is about how hard it is to find a job today, it also points out some good advice, to not give up as that will only make things worse. For any Boomers who are not at the bottom of the dry well yet, this is also great advice to look at your current finances to make sure you are doing whatever you can to not just assume that things will be OK… at least very soon, because it may take long enough to find yourself empty, before it starts to finally get better.

I am a Baby Boomer who has this disease. Thank goodness, I always got regular eye exams and my eye doctor suspected this early on. I have been able to keep my eye pressures low so far, from medications and a few laser surgeries. I was excited just to see this article. You don’t hear that much about research going on for this disease. I am glad some scientists are working hard on finding a cure.
